What was once thought of as only an occurrence local to Mexico, the Philippines and Chicago, is quickly spreading to other parts of the United States, most recently in Cincinnati, Ohio. The steady decline of the usage of turn signals while driving is said to be one step away from of blatant disregard for stop signs and traffic lights, leading to the deterioration of driving as haphazard and chaotic as some third world countries.
Those motorists diligent in the practice of using turn signals are said to refer to those who just can’t seem to find their turn signals as “f***ing idiots”, “godd**n morons” or “that lazy f*ck”.
According to Ohio State traffic laws:
ยง 4511.39. Turn and stop signals.
(A) No person shall turn a vehicle or trackless trolley or move right or left upon a highway unless and until such person has exercised due care to ascertain that the movement can be made with reasonable safety nor without giving an appropriate signal in the manner hereinafter provided.
There is reasonable doubt that today’s motorists are making sure that they are giving ample notice before changing lanes. This fact is even more alarming in rush hour traffic, where there may be thousands of motorists on I-471 during their morning commute, sometimes with less than a car length between cars.
One Cincinnati motorist, who wishes to remain anonymous, states, “I don’t understand why people can’t use their f***ing turn signals! RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC!!! Are they f***ing crazy??? It’s one thing if there’s no one behind you, but when you are surrounded by cars all going 65 miles per hour? Get off your cell phone, put your makeup on at home, and USE YOUR GOD***N TURN SIGNALS!!!”
It is theorized that there may be a correlation between drivers who don’t use their turn signals and low IQ test scores, however, studies are currently inconclusive.
