bullet-points: the “i have a headache and can’t be bothered” edition

- i watched rosemary’s baby today. i had seen most of it years ago, but never saw the ending. i requested it on lovefilm (it’s been on my “to see” movie list for years), and it came in a few days ago. man, what a weird, creepy movie. i find it right up there with another classic from the same era, “stepford wives.” what is it with that era and really dark, fucked-up movies? c’mon people, remember deliverance??
- i’ve noticed a “battle of the blogs” (cincinnati-style, natch) going on, where people are competing to see how much traffic they can divert to the cincinnati freestore foodbank. all over cincinnati, people donate money and food to the charity, which feeds thousands of impoverished people in the cincinnati area over the holidays. i’ve donated to them in the past, and also donated this year via their virtual food drive, because, well, i’m more fortunate than quite a few cincinnatians and feel like giving back, y’know? (also, if i get back and can’t find a job, i might well have just donated to myself.)
- speaking of cincinnati blogs, cincinnati women bloggers is a group i came upon recently that i think would be great fun to be involved with. however, i’m sorta half-assing this whole “blog” thing (even though i’ve been writing for over 4 years) and i think i might feel like a bit of an imposter. hmm. but, i really enjoy meeting new people so i might just suck it up and get involved anyway.
- one day i asked sam which instrument he’d choose if he could play any instrument, and he told me he’d like to learn how to play the oboe. “that’s…interesting.” i told him that most people would choose something like the guitar, hence the popularity of Guitar Hero. we then discussed the market potential for something called Rock Orchestra, where you’d have a saxophone, an oboe, perhaps a trumpet or maybe even some castanets. i mean, if they made a Rock Orchestra and included a violin? i’d SO buy that.

I know this sounds so weird, but is that whole “virtual” donation thing real? I gotta check out Snopes.
well…i think it’s more of a way for people to know how much their donation dollars can purchase. they don’t guarantee that their donation will purchase exactly what they’ve selected, otherwise i’d imagine they’d end up with too many turkeys and not enough onions or something.
sousaphone hero….thank you “onion”
