me, unplugged

not that i’ll be on the radio, per se, but you know, breathing the air and stuff.

only 28(ish) hours until i’m back in the ‘nati, and my feelings are mixed on it.  it’ll be nice to be home, but i’ll miss glasgow tremendously. i managed to do a (very) small bit of christmas shopping on monday evening, but the rest will have to wait until i get back home, where everything is less expensive. i would have waited to do all of my shopping at home, but the shopping that i did was for things that are unique to scotland (and no, i’m not telling, just in case any of the giftees are reading my blog).

after finishing that up, i went to borders and picked up some reading material for the flight home (“the audacity of hope” by our president-elect), and met up with lynne and katie for some food and drinks at the twisted wheel. and can i just say that these two are a couple of really cool, dynamic women? they’re both a part of the book club at sith cafe that i went to while i was here, and every time i was there, my eye kept wandering to this small green celtic pendant for sale in the shop. last week, they went in together and bought it for me, which was very sweet and thoughtful of them. i only wish i could have spent more time with them (as well as the other women in the book club).

in fact, i’ve made some really cool friends in the 4 months that i’ve been here, who’ve done nothing but made me feel welcome in their circle of friends, included me in conversations, invited me to pubs, their homes, concerts and ceilidhs, and who have all contributed to the really great time that i’ve had while i’ve been here. so while i may be leaving glasgow for now, i have made some really great friends for life.
